Britax Frontier 85 Was a Wise Purchase

I bought the Britax Frontier 85  for my grandaughter and grandson who are 2 and 5 years old respectivley.  The Britax Frontier 85 was a step up from their old car seats.  The Britax Frontier 85 was so much easier to install in my SUV and they both seem much more comfortable in these booster seats than their old car seats which sat up much too high.   With their old booster seat they would bump their heads when getting in my car but not now with the Britax Frontier 85.  The Britax car seats sit much lower and the kids love their cupholders.  I am using the 5 point harness and it is very secure. We will probably keep them in the harness for several years because of the safety factor. I would highly recommend the Britax Frontier 85 booster car seat. I have tried other brand car seats and there is no comparison to the quality of a Britax product, especially the Britax Frontier 85.  The quality is outstanding and well worth the price I paid for my piece of mind and my grandchildren’s safety. They are so much easier to take in and out of the car than the other brands.

Britax Frontier 85 is comfortable, large and well made

My son will by 6 years old next month, and is 55 lb and 49″ tall .  He is on the verge of out growing the Radian 80 because of his constantly growing height and weight as all kids do, we were on the hunt for a new carseat. After  doing lots and lots of research online and in the stores  I decided on the  Britax Frontier 85.  We ordered our Britax Frontier 85 from Amazon and upon receiving this seat, we read the instructions, adjusted everything to his size and went to install our new Britax Frontier  in our 2004 Honda Odyssey. I would highly recommend to anyone who is considering the Britax Frontier 85  to check the measurements of this Britax booster  seat bottom first . Although I was able to get our Britax Frontier 85 booster seat solidly installed in our van, it was  nearly too long/deep and almost hangs over the edge of the seat.  This is a minor complaint and I don’t know the experience of anyone else who has had trouble with the Britax Frontier 85 installation.

The chest clip on the Britax Frontier 85  is a bit tighter than the Radian clip and it took him several attempts to unbuckle the harness  on his own. I do have to remind him to be sure the straps aren’t twisted although the straps on our new Britax Frontier 85 don’t seem to twist as easily as our old cart seat did.

Probably the biggest praise that I can give the Britax Frontier 85 is that on our very first trip in the new seat, our son fell asleep! He hasn’t fallen asleep in the car in a while…I can only attribute this to the very soft, cushy material and padding on the Britax Frontier 85.  Also the wings on the carseat up by his head are deep and supportive enough for him to fall asleep easily and quickly.

I’m very satisfied with the Britax Frontier 85  and I’m happy to know that this will be his last carseat!

If you like the Britax Boulevard then you’ll love the Britax Frontier 85

I just purchased and installed my new Britax Frontier 85 combination car and booster seat yesterday.  It was really easy to adjust the size to fit my sonwho is 4 and 1/2 years old. I installed the Britax Frontier 85  in my Subaru Outback with the latch system, since the Subaru latch is rated to 60 pounds. This task was very simple to do and  the whole process took about 10 minutes. I switched him from a Brtitax Boulevard, which took the same amount of time and was just as easy to adjust and install in my Subaru wagon. The only complaint that I have with the Britax Frontier 85 with the installation is that the lower latch only adjusts on one side, unlike the Britax Boulevard and Britax parkway seats, so the fit didn’t seem quite as tight. I was always able to adjust the Boulevard so tight that if I shook it by hand, the whole car would rock. The Britax Frontier 85 is tight, just not quite as tight. I might be able to get it tighter by using the seatbelt instead of the latch system. This is a very minor complaint and I don’t expect any issues safety wise with the Britax Frontier 85, just an observation to me personally.
My wife and I chose the black and grey Rushmore color which looks really nice, and the fabric is soft and high quality. My son reallyloves his new Britax Frontier 85 big kid booster seat and he loves the cup holders and arm rests. I love it because I am sure it is very safe, especially since my son can stay in a 5 point harness for a very long time with this seat and still fall asleep very easily on long trips or after big days of running around and playing etc. The Britax Frontier 85  is also very big, meaning my son can really grow with this seat, eventually using it just as a straight booster seat and only using the seat belt. It is big, but it doesn’t take up anymore space in my car than the Boulevard.  Overall I am very happy with the the Britax Frontier 85 and would highly recommend it to anyone considering or needing a new carseat.

Here is my full review of the Britax Frontier 85 convertible car seat. Here is What I look for in a great convertible car seat. First it must have a great reputation for safety and feature the latest safety innovations and technology. Secondly it must be simple to use, install, and remove from your vehicle whether you own a sedan, SUV, or even sports car. I am happy to say that the Britax Frontier 85 excels in all of our most important criteria.

Starting with the packaging the Britax Frontier 85 was very easy to open and remove from its packaging materials which is always a nice surprise. Next I put it on top of our kitchen table and had my 2 year old sit in it so I could adjust the crotch buckle before installing the Britax Frontier 85 into our Mazda6 stationwagon. The crotch buckle and the wing height on the Britax Frontier 85 were both very easy to adjust. So far so good, now it was time to install in my car. After checking the directions, which were also very nicely written, I installed the Britax Frontier 85 in about 5 minutes. The installation was very simple and the seat fit perfectly with no movement. The Tether strap was very straighforward and simple to adjust and tighten.

Britax Frontier 85 Test Ride

All right now it was  time for the Britax Frontier 85 test ride with my sometimes fussy 2 year old. I chose to simply run a few errands including going to the bank, grocery store, and mall. My daughter seemed immediately to embrace her new found ride and loved the awesome armrests and the fact that she could now have a sip of her drink with the build in cupholders. The Britax Frontier 85 stayed in place nicely and I even tested it with some quick stops on our quiet street. My daughter actually thought this was some sort of new fun game and wanted to keep going with the test “quick stops”. After running all of our errands, I opted to take the interstate outerloop home to see if she would fall asleep like she usually did in her old car seat. Within about ten minutes of interstate cruising she was out like a light in the Britax Frontier 85 car seat.

So far the Britax Frontier 85 seems to be a winner. I have had this model for a little over 3 months and have had no issues or problems. The Britax Frontier 85 is easily removed and transferred between my car and my wife’s Jeep Cherokee. I like the removal of the velcro side patches which are used to keep the straps in place when not in use to prevent twisting. The straps however are thick enough on their own that they don’t twist on their own

I love the fact that the Britax Frontier 85 has side impact safety technology to keep your child’s head stable during any die impact crashes. The seat is very easy to adjust and easy to install and remove. We chose the Rushmore print fabric as it is a more gender neutral print that can make this seat easier to pass down or sell at a later date. The Britax Frontier 85 is a well thought out product that more than exceeded my expectations. You really do get what you pay for and with the Britax Frontier 85 you get that and more

Britax Frontier 85 Concerns and Cons

The only cons that I have with the Britax Frontier 85 is that sometimes the chest buckle will slide down and the wing adjustment can be tough sometimes depending on the height of the wings. The chest buckle issue doesn’t happen often and it’s a rather minor annoyance and safety or functionality is not compromised by this minor flaw. Also my daughter could be the one who is sliding it down even though she denies doing it. The Wing adjustment for the Britax Frontier 85 is a squeeze and pull that adjusts from the back. When the seat is installed and the wings are set to a low position it can be difficult to fit your hand to adjust the wings. However once the wings are adjusted to their proper height there is more than enough room to put my hand and make any necessary adjustments to my Britax Frontier 85 convertible car seat.
